Auto dimming mirrors eliminate dangerous glare from the vehicles traveling behind. It detects glare and automatically dims to preserve driver vision and make night time driving safer. Gentex rear view auto dimming mirrors are based on the science of electrochromics, which is the process of reversibly darkening materials by applying electricity. During night time driving, the mirrors use a combination of sophisticated sensors and electronic circuitry to detect glare from rearward approaching vehicles and darken accordingly to eliminate the glare and preserve driver vision. Note: Some vehicles may require the ignition switch to be turned to the second (or accessories) position for programming and/or operation of HomeLink ®. It is also recommended that a new battery be placed in the hand-held transmitter of the device being programmed to HomeLink for quicker training and accurate transmission of the radio-frequency signal.

The 50GENK40, 50GENK45 and 50GENK50 mirrors come with a wedge style mount attached to
the mirror standard for most GM Chevy, Chevrolet, GMC,
Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, and most foreign vehicle such as Nissan, Toyota and Mazda brands
built in the USA. Wedge style mirror mounts must be removed by loosening a small
screw or allen nut, and pushing the mirror up towards the roof of the vehicle.
Note: Check the size of the windshield mount attached to your vehicle's
glass before ordering (windshield mount not included) Camlock mount mirrors are generally standard on vehicles manufactured outside of the United States, including some U.S. brands. Camlock-style mirrors must be removed by turning the mirror 90 degrees so that it is perpendicular to the dash, and pulling down on the mirror. If your vehicle's mounting system looks similar to the photo at the left, you have a camlock-mount rearview mirror. |

If your car, truck or suv mirror is mounted within the windshield, not stuck on like the wedge mount, detachment is not recommended. Or if your windshield wipers have a sensor mounted to your rearview mirror, air bag switch or OnStar installed, installation of this mirror will inactivate the function. Our mirrors will not fit the following car and suv make / models: Acura, BMW, Hyundai, and Porsche.
